When did you start living the healthy lifestyle and why did you choose to do so?

I’ve been living a healthy lifestyle for about 10 years

When did you decide to compete?

I have wanted to compete for 3 years but was battling a really bad back injury, so it took me a while before finally committing

What shows have you done and how did you place?

I did the Blue Ridge Classic in Charlottesville, VA. I placed 3rd in Novice and 4th in Open!

What motivates you?

Instagram haha! I love following fitness accounts and getting a peak into people’s journeys, with both successes and struggles!

What is your favorite healthy recipe (can you provide the recipe below)?

That would be my chocolate protein mix! Recipe below – yeah, you’re welcome 🙂

  •  1/4c protein powder (I typically use Chocolate or Birthday Cake)
  • 1/4c raw organic cocoa (I use Navitas)
  • 1-2tbsp almond butter
  • 2-3tbsp almond milk
  • Dash of cinnamon (you can also add nutmeg, cloves, pumpkin spice, etc)
  • Couple of drops of Stevia (I use Sweet Drops Caramel)
  • Optional: Cocoa nibs for extra crunch

Mix everything together and enjoy! I eat it as is with a spoon straight out of the bowl, but you can also use a bit less liquid, form into balls, roll into shredded coconut (optional) and put in the fridge for a while!

What is your favorite exercise?

I LOVE lunges!

Who are your role models?

My coach Michelle Johnson, Amber Dawn Orton and my boyfriend.

What is your favorite quote?

“Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up.”

Tell us one random fact about you.

I’m great at driving cars in reverse!

What was something you learned that was inspiring or different for you… something that was a “light bulb” moment that demonstrates the uniqueness of the program?

That health doesn’t mean chicken and broccoli 6 times a day! Variety is a good thing, and it makes this lifestyle much more sustainable.

What have you learned from competing and the coaching you received with Michelle?

I’ve learned how to love myself, as odd as that may sound! For years I have been obsessed with food and training, and looking back I might have actually had an eating disorder. But through Michelle’s coaching, I feel like I got my life back. I won’t go up in flames if I eat something other than chicken and broccoli! Also learned a ton about fitness in general – and how to manage my back injury!

What is about the coaching that you love and have learned about?

I love that it takes the guess work out of it, you get all the instructions and guidance you need to be successful.

What is your message to those who want to compete?

If you’ve ever considered it – DO IT! It is such an amazing experience and a wonderful (very challenging) way of pushing yourself.
